3 Myths Of Acne [Part 2]

MYTH 2 –  POOR HYGIENE CAUSES ACNE

Today I will be looking at another myth of Acne that you probably believe to be true. This is the second post on myths of acne. If you missed the first myth you can read the post here.

This is the myth that acne is caused by poor hygiene.

If dealing with acne wasn’t difficult enough, there’s a widespread belief that acne is actually caused by poor hygiene.  They believe that you did not properly wash the place that is why the acne came in the first place.

To make matters worse, those suffering from acne then believe that they are responsible for the pimples as they did not wash the area frequently enough. This makes them make their acne worse simply by over washing or consistently scrubbing their skin with abrasive material or scrubs.

Acne is not caused by surface skin oils, dirt, or because you haven’t showered often enough. It can get worse but it is not the cause.

Acne is typically caused by a combination of factors, including:

    • hormonal changes
    • certain medications
    • diet
    • stress
    • genetics
    • excess oil production
    • bacteria
    • blockages in the pores
    • inflammation

Vigorous washing will actually irritate your skin and leave you feeling worse than before, it will also cause scarring so please put the vigorous scrubs and scrub bush away when you have acne.

    Does sleeping late cause acne?

Some studies conducted on acne have suggested that there may be a link between sleep deprivation and increased levels of certain hormones that can trigger acne breakouts. So you need to ensure you get enough rest every night.

Is cold water good for acne?

Cold water can help to constrict the pores and reduce inflammation, but it can’t do much for acne on its own.

What causes acne on the cheeks?

There are many possible causes of acne on the cheeks, including hormonal imbalances, stress, genetics, and certain medications. Other possible causes include frequently touching your face. when u do this you transfer bacteria from your hands to your face. Also, dirty pillowcases are another culprit.

Try to change your pillowcases frequently. It’s better you have pillowcases that don’t match than acne from waiting to find time to wash.

How much water to drink a day for acne?

Everyone’s skin reacts differently to different levels of hydration. However, you should aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day to maintain clear skin. This amount of water should help reduce pimples, increase skin elasticity and improve dryness.

Why do pimples hurt when touched?

Pimples hurt when you touch them because they are inflamed. The inflammation is caused by the body’s immune system response to bacteria, sebum, and dead skin cells that get trapped in the hair follicle. The immune system releases chemicals that cause swelling, redness, and pain.

What happens if acne is left untreated?

Acne can lead to severe scarring of the skin if it is left untreated. With many scars on your face, you may feel less confident. It is best to start working on your acne as soon as possible.

  • 6 Tips To Get Softer Skin

6 Tips To Get Softer Skin

Soft smooth skinEveryone wants to have soft and smooth skin. Here are six tips to help you get the soft skin you desire.

Exfoliate At Least Once Every Week

Exfoliating with a good body scrub is essential to having soft skin. This is cause exfoliation helps to remove dead cells on your skin and allows the softer skin underneath to become visible. It also helps to remove dirt and oil.

Exfoliating the skin can help with anti-ageing mainly by improving the appearance and texture of aging skin. It does this by removing old or dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover. This can help to improve the smoothness and tone of the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

You can try different ways to exfoliate the skin, including using scrubs, brushes, or chemical exfoliants. We prefer scrubs.

When you get started with exfoliation and you see what you have been missing, you may be tempted to do it daily but this is not good for your skin. Do not exfoliate more than three times a week as it can cause your skin to become irritated.

Click here to see a gentle but effective scrub you can use to exfoliate and make your skin softer.

    Bathe Right

Bathing correctly is essential to getting soft skin and your skin care and hygiene are important. So here are the top things to consider when you bathe or shower with your skin in mind.

First, always use warm water instead of hot water, as hot water can strip the natural oils from your skin.

Bathing several times a day can also dry out your skin, however not bathing enough can cause your skin to have issues such as acne and more. Also bathing too long can also strip your skin of oils.

Basically, you need to use normal or lukewarm water to bathe and don’t spend too long in there.

    Moisturize Daily

While moisturizing your skin, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First, make sure that you clean your face thoroughly before applying any products.

It can be tempting to skin moisturizing your body cause you are in a hurry but this is essential for soft skin. You should moisturize after you shower. It is better to apply cream after bathing or dedicate your time to washing your face first. This will remove any germs, dirt, and oil that could clog your pores and cause breakouts.

Don’t let your body dry fully, instead apply the moisturizer while your body is still wet.

Next, choose a moisturizer that is right for your skin type.

If your skin is oily, it is best to use a light and oil-free body moisturizer. For dry skin types, choose a thicker cream or lotion. And if you have sensitive skin, better to go for a hypoallergenic product.

Also, moisturize before applying your makeup as it makes your skin to be protected which will help its softness as well as help your makeup look better. You should also moisturize after removing your makeup and cleaning your face. If you shower at night, you should moisturize as well.

    Drink More Water.

Water is vital for keeping your skin looking healthy, hydrated, and soft. Drinking plenty of water all day will help to flush out toxins from your body, which can lead to healthier skin.

Water is also used by the body to perform various tasks and really needed by the body if you want soft skin. It will also help your skin to look better not just soften it.

Please note, we mean actual water here. Soft drinks and beer don’t count.

    Get a Massage

It’s a great feeling when you go to the spa and relax and get your body massaged, however even a home-based massage will get the same results here and help you get softer skin.

Your body gets a lot of benefits from a massage, including softer skin.

This is because massages help to boost and increase circulation as it distributes nutrients all around your body. Massage can help increase blood circulation and promote lymphatic drainage, which can help reduce the appearance of cellulite, promote healing, and give your skin a more even tone.

It helps to make your skin soft and if you use the right oil to massage, you can make the effect last for days after the massage. If you are massaging yourself at home try to do it before bed like three times a week. Your skin will become much softer.

  • 3 Myths of Acne – Part One

3 Myths of Acne – Part One

Acne is the name for the skin condition that causes pimples.

It is a popular skin condition affecting many people. It can cause blackheads, whiteheads, and other types of pimples. Acne can also affect the skin in other ways, such as causing it to be oily or dry.

    Types of Acne

Acne can be divided into two main types: inflammatory and non-inflammatory.

Non-inflammatory acne includes blackheads and whiteheads, which are also known as comedones. These types of acne don’t usually cause pain or swelling.

Inflammatory acne is a really severe form of the condition and includes pimples, cysts, and nodules. These types of acne can be painful and often lead to swelling.

    Popular Myths of Acne

Before we can even talk about how to get rid of pimples and prevent them from recurring we need to know these myths.

We also need to know them because it is hard to tell the effective strategies and methods that actually work for getting rid of your acne, with so much wrong information being circulated around.

From dangerous remedies that will cause your acne to get worse, to following strategies that could cause permanent scarring, it’s important to understand what really works, and what doesn’t.

This is why I have compiled a few myths that can help you stop making the mistakes others are making, so as to allow your skin to get better, not worse.

MYTH 1: Lifestyle as the Cause of Acne

The first myth we would be looking at is that your lifestyle is the cause of your acne.

Yes, I have heard it all,  from chocolate being the leading cause of acne to the wrong diet, to exposure to the sun or to bacteria, people are consistently misled into believing that if they only avoid specific things, their acne would suddenly disappear.

    That is not the case.

Yes, different people have different skin types and react differently to different lifestyle choices. However, diet and lifestyle choices are not usually the root cause of acne.

In fact, if you have stopped chocolate because you were told that it was the primary cause of acne, go ahead and grab yourself a box of your favourite brand. Chocolate, among the other ridiculous agents listed on various sites, are not responsible for your acne. Extensive scientific research has officially ruled out any direct causal association between acne and your diet.

That being said, certain foods may cause your existing acne to flare up, and if you experience a breakout after eating a specific food, you should eliminate it from your diet as you may have allergies.  However, the common foods usually blamed are NOT the cause of acne, but can be a trigger that causes existing acne to get worse.

If you are struggling with pimples or other forms of acne, it may be helpful to keep a journal to track which lifestyle choices seem to exacerbate your symptoms.

If you are truly looking for a solution to your acne, you need to get our acne and scar package from this link. The acne and scar package is so effective because it contains a very effective soap with an ingredient called BAHYU.

    What is BAHYU?

BAHYU is oil obtained from horse fat just like other animal oil such as lard from pig fat or lanolin from sheep wool. It is 100% natural and additive free!

It is a powerful natural oil that helps to moisturize and protect the skin. It is also known to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

For centuries in Japan BAHYU has been widely known as a home remedy for acne, dry skin, cuts, chapped skin, and hemorrhoids.

BAHYU products can help to improve the appearance of acne are by cleansing and exfoliating the skin, reducing inflammation, and helping to control oil production and more so the acne can go fast.

BAHYU has been used safely without a doctor’s prescription, as it can be used in food and there are no side effects. Traditional Chinese medicines incorporate it in treating acne and other skin problems.

The horse oil soap included in the acne and scar package naturally contains this ingredient and will help cleanse your skin, prevent breakouts, and heal your skin and existing breakouts, as it is absorbed when you wash your face.

In our next post, we would be looking at the second myth of acne. Watch out for the post.

Sheet masks are a type of face mask that are typically made out of paper or cloth. They are soaked in a variety of skin-care serums, and you place them on your face for a set amount of time so the nutrients can penetrate deeply into the skin before peeling them off.

Sheet masks are very good for the skin and work great on all types of skin. They are usually filled with useful nutrients your skin needs such as Hyaluronic Acid and has been prepared in such a way that they can be quickly absorbed by the skin.

They also work great at reviving the skin, improving glow, and reducing puffiness. They can help your skin look great for days after a single treatment.

Should I wash my face after using a sheet mask?

Each mask will come with instructions on how to handle this.

For the sheet masks that require rinsing, you should always rinse your face with water afterwards. If you don’t rinse off the essence, it will continue to absorb into your skin and may cause acne.

We recommend using a toner as part of your skin care routine to help lock in hydration.

How long should I leave a sheet mask on my face?

Most sheet masks should be left for a short period So for best results, leave it on for 10-20 minutes. If it starts to dry out on your face before the time runs out, you should take it off.

Is it bad to use sheet masks every day?

Not at all. You can be use them daily, but we recommend using them two or three times per week or as we specify so that your skin doesn’t become dependent on the extra hydration they provide.

To ensure that the active ingredients in your sheet mask are fully absorbed, apply it the way we show you, especially before you use any other skin care products.

Check out this sheet mask that can do wonders for your skin. This mask will moisturize and revitalize your skin. It will prevent dry skin and is suitable for all types of skin.

  • What Skin Type Am I?

    What Skin Type Am I?

    young black girl

A person’s skin type may be influenced by many things like genetics, our state of health, hormones, our meals, environmental factors, and lots more.

When dealing with the environment, we have to face challenges, second-hand smoke, environmental pollution, UV rays from the sun and more.

Each skin type has its pros and cons as well as good and bad ways of nurturing it, so as to have a better, more beautiful skin with fewer issues. Knowing your skin type is crucial to getting the beautiful skin you desire.

There are generally 4 categories of skin:

    1. Normal Skin
    2. Dry Skin
    3. Oily Skin
    4. Combination Skin

In most cases, people think they are one skin type, when in fact they are actually another skin type.

Take the quick and easy 5 question quiz below to know your skin type.

    Understanding Your Skin Type

Now that you know your skin type, you need to understand more about your skin type, you need to understand the benefits, problems and challenges.

    NORMAL SKIN TYPE

Normal Skin is the easiest to manage as it usually healthy with less problems. There is also good blood circulation in the skin which helps it to look radiant. Sebum which is the oily substance on the skin is produced at adequate quantities which gives a good balance of moisture to oil ratio (neither too oily nor too dry).

When you achieve this balance, your skin will look plump, well moisturized and have a healthy glow. It will also feel more elastic, soft and supple. You can use most kinds of product on this type of skin. However, you need to ensure you moisturize regularly to keep you skin looking great so it doesn’t dry out from environmental conditions.

    DRY SKIN TYPE

If you have under active sebaceous glands you may have dry skin. These glands are responsible for oil production and if your skin doesn’t produce enough for optimum lubrication it will become dry skin. You can recognize dry skin as it is usually dull, flaky and have dry patches. It is sometimes itchy as well.

The drier a skin is the more potential it has to become sensitive. If you have dry skin you need to moisturize frequently, drink lots of water and also splash or spray water directly on your skin. This skin type is usually tight and is not elastic.

Even though this skin type hardly suffers from acne they have the problem of premature ageing if the skin is not properly taken care off. It also easily gets irritated and is rather fragile. It is also highly vulnerable to changes in weather like Harmattan and high or low temperatures like too much A.C so be sure you take adequate care when in such environments.

    OILY SKIN TYPE

This skin type has overactive sebaceous glands and therefore it produces too much sebum (oil) and the skin ends up being excessively lubricated and greasy. Oily skin, therefore, tends to look shiny with large pores which frequently get clogged.  As a result of constant clogging, this skin type gets pimples, blackheads and other acne problems frequently as the sebum gets trapped beneath the skin that eventually results in pimples.

On the plus side, this type of skin does not suffer from premature ageing and fast wrinkles as the oily nature helps the skin to keep a youthful look for longer. This type of skin needs to be cleansed frequently and moisturized to balance the oil to water ratio and to reduce the potential of getting pimples.

    SENSITIVE SKIN CONDITION

Before we move to the last skin type. We need to take a look at sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is not a skin type but rather a skin condition that can affect all types of skin. Someone with sensitive skin could also have oily, dry, normal or combination skin.

The problem with having sensitive skin is that your skin gets really irritated quickly. When you use certain products you feel a stinging sensation, burning sensation or you may even start to itch. It also causes your skin to be prone to rashes. After washing your face sometimes you may feel dry and itchy. It is also affected and made worse by environmental conditions.

If you have sensitive skin you need to use gentle or natural or hypoallergenic products that are suitable for all types of skin or specifically sensitive skin to get the best treatment for your skin and to help prevent skin irritation and reactions.

    COMBINATION SKIN TYPE

As the name implies, this skin type is a situation where there are more than one skin types in one person. This is the most common skin type as a lot of people have it. It can be oily is some places and dry in others while still being normal or sensitive in other parts of the body.

In most cases, there is oily skin on certain parts of the face (T-zone). This oily zone usually covers the forehead, the nose and the chin and looks like a T shape. For this type of skin, you may need to use different products for different parts of your skin or use products suitable for all types of skin.

Clay Masks And How To Use Them

What are Clay Masks and How Can They Help Your Skin?

clay masksIn our last post, we looked at two types of face masks and specifically focused on the sheet mask. We looked at its benefits and its uses. If you missed the post you can view it here.

Today we would be looking at clay masks.

Clay masks are a popular beauty treatment and there are many different types available. Clay masks can be used to cleanse, exfoliate and tone the skin. They are also great for reducing acne breakouts and blackheads.

Clay masks can contain natural ingredients such as bentonite clay, kaolin clay or French green clay. These clays are good for the skin. As with new skin care products, if you have sensitive skin, it’s best to do a patch test first before using the product to check for any adverse reactions.

Clay masks are a great way to clear and treat clogged pores and skin congestions and blockages.

They are also great for tightening of the skin, detoxifying the skin and firming up the skin.  They are really helpful in clearing out the skin impurities while smoothening out the skin texture and minimizing pores.

They are usually best for normal to oily skin except when they are infused with Kaolin or Bentonite as these extra ingredients reduce the drying effect, as they prevent the drying out of the skin but instead make it super clean and well-nourished after use.

These extra ingredients also allow other skin types to be able to use and reap the benefits of clay masks.

Common Mistakes When Using Clay Masks

Clay masks are great but people make a lot of mistakes using them.

The first mistake is not properly preparing. Clay masks can be quite messy. You need to wear home clothing so you don’t ruin your outfit.

The second mistake that people make is that they try to apply too much.

You need just a thin layer that completely covers your face. You don’t need to keep putting more and more as it can increase the drying effect.

The third mistake is leaving it on too long. unlike sheet masks that you can leave on your face for 30 minutes or more, clay masks should only be on your face for about 5 minutes otherwise it may begin to dry out the skin, no matter the skin type.

It is best to follow the directions of usage on the product as each mask may be a bit different. Set a timer if you have to.

The fourth mistake is trying to forcefully rub the skin to rub off the mask.

What you should do instead is get a warm and wet cloth and cover your face with it and let it stay on your face for about a minute or two and the warm steam will help to loosen the clay mask and then you can gently remove it.

The final mistake is that people forget to moisturize after using clay masks and unlike sheet masks that you may not need to moisturize, moisturizing is essential after using clay masks. They lock in the effect and keep the skin soft.
